Located on the banks of the river Sèvre Niortaise, the town is known for its iconic and medieval castle Donjon de Niort, beautiful market halls, old houses, impressive churches and the former town hall from the 16th century. A large part of the historic city center is car-free, as there is hardly any room for cars in the countless narrow medieval streets!
