- „Insider's tip“ because Milatos is located off the tourist mainstream (no through road yet), and because Crete is largely unaffected by the current problems other Mediterranean destinations (incl. other Greek islands) are facing which is not widely known yet. Prices are relatively low because of the Greek economic crisis. Cretans are especially big on hospitality. And there are plenty of flight connections to Heraklion.
- Easiest arrival is by charter flight to Heraklion or alternatively by scheduled flight (in particular off charter season) e.g. by the Greek national carrier Aegean (aegeanair) with change of aircraft in Athens.
- Depending on where you originate from and for how long you'd like to stay and travel, it might be a worthwhile adventure to come by your own car using the ferry services to Heraklion from the Greek mainland. As an example you could board the ferry in Ancona (Italy) for an overnight trip to Greece, disembark in Patras (Greece), take another 2 hour drive to the port of Piraeus (Athens), and then embark again for an overnight trip to Heraklion. Ferry services we know of are Minoan Lines and Anek Lines. From our own experience we would recommend outside cabins.

- The rooftop terrace is perfectly suited for either catching some rays or watching the sunset. The beautiful prospect from there over to the little fishermen's port, up to the high mountains and upon the sea have inspired the villa's name "Bellavista".

- To the right of the Bellavista, there are several Greek taverns which offer good and reasonably priced meals for lunch and dinner, in particular with fresh fish. Three houses to the left there is a little supermarket for daily goods.

- Milatos is situated approx. 50 km east of Heraklion and approx. 40 km east of the Heraklion airport "Nikos Kazantzakis" (symbol: HER) on the north coast for Crete.
- Villa Bellavista directly faces the beach of rocks and pebble of Milatos-Beach (Milatos-Paralia). The Villa is separated from the sea only by a little-used road. It's a calm location. The water is crystal clear, ideal for snorkelling (water shoes recommended). Beautiful sandy beaches are located 4-6 km from Milatos-Beach. Many taverns. A grocery. A music bar some 300m away from the Villa.
- Milatos is an ideal starting point for excursions and hikes. In case you are planning for excursions to the wider environment we recommend you to rent a car, either at the Heraklion airport (saves you the taxi fare) or in Milatos.
- Twice a week, there is a bus connection to Agios Nikolaos (12.000 inhabitants, 27 km distance). The bus departs on Monday and Thursday at 08:30 in the morning and returns in the afternoon.
