Surrounded by the hills of this land, the structure lies in Vocabolo Vallelunga of Badiola where the roads to Orvieto, Lake Trasimeno and Città della Pieve converged. Between the 13th and 16th centuries, this merging of roads marked the old via Orvietana which linked Perugia to Orvieto, Lake Bolsena and the Francigena way. This junction was also characterised by the presence of an edifice, the property in question, where Benedictine monks gave shelter to wayfarers, merchants, pilgrims and their horses.
